The purpose of this post is simple. Go to the Dallas Flea. Why?
- Who doesnt love a flea market?
- Dallas really needs one.
- Now we have one (just for one day though …ugh..)
- Go support it & maybe we can do it again soon!
- Tons of vendors….its an “edited” flea market so you won’t find any old toilet seats or wacky hair brushes from the 50’s. It’s all stuff that you and grab and go!
- The perfect place to pick up a gift for that “artsy fartsy” friend in your life.
For complete details and information about the particpating vendors, visit, www.thedallasflea.com.
See you Saturday!

On Thursday, September 24th from 5p to 8p, treat yourself to an evening of beauty provided by the new Aveda Institute of Dallas. You’ll have the chance to be the first to peek at the new center for affordable, cutting edge techniques in skin and hair.
Complimentary Mini Services throughout the evening, as well as hors d’oeuvres, live music and a fashion show. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to win a “Day of Beauty” party for you and three of your friends.
I enjoy being pampered. It’s my absolute favorite thing to do. But, my luxuriating ways sometimes put a hurtin’ on my bank account. The Aveda Institute provides an alternative to the pricey salons and spas without compromising quality. Haircuts are $15.00, Hair Color from $25+, Manicures $12 and Pedicures are $14. Can’t beat that!

Well… I lied. I DID venture out into the madness of Tax Free Weekend. However, since my little one doesn’t have a need for school clothes, supplies or a backpack (remember, he’s 1 month old)– I took advantage of the great sales and scored a few deals for myself.
Shopping Trip Roll Call:
Macy*s:
1) 4pc set of red wine glasses by Cellar (I only paid 11 bucks!)
2) Martha Stewart Collection Red Enameled Cast Iron Chili Pot/Dutch Oven, 5.5 Qt. in a super sexy fire engine red! (Regular 99.00, Sale 49.00!)
3) Martha Stewart Collection “Allergy Wise” Synthetic European Pillow, 2 Pack (Regular 60.00, Sale 29.00!)
Misc:
1) Bottle of Cakebread Chardonnay (c.2005)….yum!
Overall, the mall was not complete madness…however I did see:
1) Two ladies arguing over the last size 6x Hannah Montana T-Shirt on the rack…(I immediately sent my thanks upstairs yet again for the fact that I am a “boy mom”…
2) Came across my friend’s ex-boyfriend in line with his new wife and 4 children (oy vey!) and,
3) Watched a young boy get picked up by mall security for stuffing a belt in his pocket.
Clearly good times had by all.

While I’m not one to slather myself in the latest celeb endorsed perfume, I just had to give this one a try–Halle by Halle Berry. This fragrance by Coty surprisingly delivers. Something about it seems a little more sophisticated than other Coty fragrances. Perhaps its my slight obsession with Ms. Berry? But I digress….
I’m not totally in love with this fragrance, but it does have lasting power (I still smelled like “Halle” after 13 hours) and its very reasonably priced (Halle by Halle Berry runs $17–$35 depending on size) is a woody, oriental scent. Slight hints of a sandalwood musk and sensual amber make this a complex scent with many layers. If you come across this fragrance at a retailer near you, sample it for yourself. You’ll be pleasantly surprised.

While my little one isn’t quite old enough yet for these kicks, many other moms have shared with me how much they love these shoes—and so do their little ones. Friends have gushed over how indestructable they are–standing up to even the most active of 3 year olds. Did I mention how cute they are??
